Master degree in higher education (M.Ed., MEd, Ed.M., M.A.Ed., M.S.Ed. or M.Ed.L) is a postgraduate academic master’s degree awarded by universities in a large number of countries. Master degree in higher education often includes the following majors: curriculum and instruction, counseling, and administration. It is often conferred for educators advancing in their field. For classroom teachers a master’s degree is required to earn a professional license. In most states a master’s degree or higher degree is required for a principal ship or school counseling position.
